Who these terms are for

These terms are an agreement between rateful.shop (“Rateful”, “we”) and the businesses that sign up for Rateful and the people they invite to their account (“you”). By creating an account you agree to them on behalf of your business. Customers who leave feedback through a Rateful page don't need an account; how we handle their information is set out in our privacy policy.

The service

Rateful gives your business a feedback page reached by QR code or link. Customers rate their visit, and can turn what they said into a review draft that they may post on Google themselves. You see their feedback, receive alerts about low ratings, and can draft replies to Google reviews. Rateful never posts reviews on a customer's behalf.

Free trial

New accounts start with a free 60-day trial and no card is needed. When the trial ends without a paid plan, your account becomes read-only: you can still see and export your data, disconnect Google, delete customer data, remove team members and delete your account, but you can't change settings or reply to reviews. Your feedback page keeps working with simpler, template-based drafts and without text alerts, so printed cards never lead to a dead end. Paid plans, their limits and prices will be shown before you are asked to pay.

Fair reviews

Google's rules on reviews protect you and your customers, and Rateful is built to follow them. When you use Rateful you agree not to:

• offer or give anything in exchange for a review, or suggest a reward is tied to one;
• show the Google option only to happy customers, or discourage anyone from posting;
• write reviews yourself, or ask staff, friends or anyone else to post reviews that aren't their own experience;
• tell customers what to write, or pressure them to change what they wrote.

Your responsibilities

• Give accurate details about your business, and only add businesses you own or are authorised to manage.
• Keep your sign-in secure, and remove people from your account when they no longer need access.
• Use customer feedback, and any email address a customer shares, only to run and improve your business and to reply to that customer. Don't use it for marketing without their consent.
• Follow the law that applies to you, including privacy law. If you are a health provider, don't collect health information through Rateful unless we have agreed to it in writing.
• Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, reach other accounts, or use it to send spam.

Google

If you connect your Google Business Profile, Rateful accesses it only to show your Google reviews and post the replies you approve, or that you have explicitly turned on automatic replies for. Your use of Google's services is also governed by Google's own terms. You can disconnect Google at any time.

AI drafts

Review and reply drafts are written by AI from what customers and you provide. They can be wrong. Customers edit and post their own reviews, and you are responsible for any reply you post or allow to be posted automatically.

Your content and data

Your business details, settings, logo and customer feedback belong to you or your customers. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service. You can export your data, and delete it at any time. Our privacy policy explains retention and the services that process data for us.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Rateful running and your data safe, but we can't promise the service will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve features; if a change materially reduces what you pay for, we will tell you in advance.

Ending the service

You can stop using Rateful and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, especially the fair-review rules, after telling you why where we reasonably can.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Rateful is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or a change in your ratings. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CA$100 if you haven't paid us. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, tell account owners by email before they take effect.
